La Poiana was born in March 2013 when we realized the great quality of the wine we were producing out of our 2012 grape harvest. We decided to buy a new 25HL cask of French oak Allier and we have left the wine there to age till mid January 2016. The full bouquet of flavors and perfumes of our land is very well represented in our wine, which has slightly more than 13% alcoholic strength. We have produced 3030 0,75lt bottles and 127 Mangum 1,5lt all duly numbered. The name comes from a couple of buzzards (Poiana in Italian) that have a nest on the trees nearby and love to fly over our vineyard.
Produced only in the best years, the Reserve is like the animal that represents: a rapacious wine, able to surprise you with the true essence of our Sangiovese. Like any good predator knows how to wait for the right moment, rests in casks of French Oak Allier for more than two years before being bottled.
